Local Description

Ruth's Review: Absolutely delicious is the only way to sum up this fabulous collection of Joy Cowley's poems and stories, given a fresh new look from Giselle Clarkson's whimsical illustrations. There are some old favourites like Greedy Cat and Nicketty-Nacketty, Noo Noo Noo, but it's wonderful to also see rhyme-charmers such as Uncle Andy's Singlet and Cheese Trap, back in print again. Poems filled with lovely jumbly words like "goggly gookers" and "bleezles flue-flam slushus" sit alongside the circle-of-life story The Little Tractor and the cautionary tale wisdom of Do Not Drop Your Jellybeams. The 20 stories and poems are beautifully presented in a large hardback volume, printed on thick matte paper and with an orange ribbon bookmark to find your place. An ideal keepsake gift for a new baby or to celebrate a christening. You will remember Giselle Clarkson from her hilarious taxonomy of New Zealand's favourite biscuits and slices in Annual 2, such as the Sultana Pastie or Disappointus Minora, and Gingernut or Cupotea Rex!
