Here We Are: Notes for Living on Planet Earth
Author(s): Oliver Jeffers
The exquisite and thought-provoking new book from the multi award-winning, internationally best-selling picture book creator of Lost and Found, Oliver Jeffers. Well, hello. And welcome to this Planet. We call it Earth. Our world can be a bewildering place, especially if you've only just got here. Your head will be filled with questions, so let's explore what makes our planet and how we live on it. From land and sky, to people and time, these notes can be your guide and start you on your journey. And you'll figure lots of things out for yourself. Just remember to leave notes for everyone else… Some things about our planet are pretty complicated, but things can be simple, too: you've just got to be kind. Here We Are is the utterly heartfelt new book from Oliver Jeffers. We're glad you found it. “An optimistic snapshot of contemporary life, this heartfelt hug of a book ought to become a classic” The Guardian
Oliver Jeffers wrote this book to introduce his son to Earth and the basic things to know about living here.
Here We Are is full of luscious illustrations and scattered with light humour. It is a wonderful, simple look at what our planet is made up of and life here on Earth.
Running throughout this book is the message that we need to be kind; to look out for all other humans and animals living here, and be kind to Earth itself.
In my opinion this is the best Oliver Jeffers book yet and is a perfect gift for little people new to this world.

Oliver Jeffers, arguably the most influential creator of picture books today, offers a rare personal look inside his own hopes and wishes for his child--and in doing so gifts children and parents everywhere with a gently sweet and humorous missive about our world and those who call it home. Insightfully sweet, with a gentle humor and poignancy, here is Oliver Jeffers' user's guide to life on Earth. He created it specially for his son, yet with a universality that embraces all children and their parents. Be it a complex view of our planet's terrain (bumpy, sharp, wet), a deep look at our place in space (it's big), or a guide to all of humanity (don't be fooled, we are all people), Oliver's signature wit and humor combine with a value system of kindness and tolerance to create a must-have book for parents.
