Lucy's Review:

Twelve-year-old Connor's mum is planning on getting married to Morgan even though it's only been a couple of years since Connor's dad died in a plane crash. And Morgan's mum is not happy about it at all - so when Morgan's dad wins Lotto, buys a flash new campervan, and invites Connor and his best mate, Harvey, on holiday, it seems a little weird. Throw in a couple of dodgy guys they meet on the interislander, one of whom hands out $100 notes like they're nothing, and a bunch of strange emails that send the boys on a code-cracking quest complete with free BMXs ... and this holiday is anything but boring.

Des Hunt does it again with another fast-paced action adventure set in Bulls and the top of the South Island. It cracks along, setting up mystery after mystery, the tension rising once the boys head out on their quests. This'll go down a treat with 11-13 year-olds and will hold the attention of older reluctant readers.

Description

A man who hands out $100 notes like they were peanuts. A small-town loser robbed of a big lottery win. A young woman held against her will. Liars, thieves, scammers, hijackers ... Connor expects little from his campervan holiday with the elderly couple who are soon to be his step-grandparents. 'Mega boring' is how he describes it to his best mate Harvey, who tags along to keep him company. However, when strange emails begin to arrive sending the boys on mysterious missions in search of a super prize, life gets exciting and increasingly dangerous. Connor and Harvey come to realise it is no longer a game - it is a fight for survival!
